Meet author Susan Subak and hear her presentation about discovering low carbon culture in west suburban Chicago. Her program is based on her book, The Five-Ton Life, a 2018 release from the University of Nebraska Press.

Subak explores important information related to Oak Park's greenhouse gas emissions profile, including fuel mix, the built environment, and mobility patterns, grounded in part by a history that pre-dates the widespread use of the automobile. She will review how Oak Park is considered, along with its neighbors Forest Park, Berwyn, and Maywood. The presentation includes a slide show and a book signing. Her book discusses carbon dioxide emissions from west suburban Chicago and other examples located on the East Coast of the United States.
