Green Tuesdays: Big Data in the Village - April 19, 7pm, OP Main Library
Tomorrow evening, Green Tuesdays in the Village will be presenting a panel discussion on BIG DATA IN THE VILLAGE.
The panel discussion will inquire how big data can better engage citizenry and enable local government toward more informed decision- and policymaking in the Village of Oak Park. To this end, the discussion will be based on the following topics and questions.

ETHEL Combines Music with Environmental Images
ETHEL, a post-modern quartet known for its imaginative programming, will present, "ETHEL's Documerica," at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb.20, in Dominican University's Lund Auditorium, 7900 W. Division St., River Forest. With multiple-screen video projections and original music by some of today's top composers, ETHEL's Documerica is a multimedia concert experience and meditation on America's relationship with its land, resources and people.

Village "Renewable Energy Fund" is a Bright Idea
Solar panels on all 11 public school roofs? Windmills atop Village Hall? A local clean energy network that feeds energy into our grid? Some ideas never see the light of day, but thanks to the efforts of citizens and staff, these clean energy projects, or others like them, may become reality in the coming years.
Kids Learn Filmmaking from Professionals
Middle and elementary school students can learn about video, lighting, audio and editing at two Young Filmmakers Workshops from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays, Dec. 6 (grades 6 to 8) and Dec. 13 (grades 3 to 5). Two Chicago-area film industry professionals, director Andrew Freer and editor Lucy Coria, will lead the workshops. They have planned a “hands-on, learning by doing” experience for participants.
Make a Measurable Difference by Being a 'Green Guide'
PlanItGreen is launching a campaign to make a big reduction in the amount of material we send to the landfill. The PlanItGreen sustainability plan outlines a goal to divert 50 percent of Oak Park and River Forest “waste” away from landfills by 2015 and into compost and recycling, where it becomes a resource.
Pilot Launch of Urban Eco Ventures for Middle Schoolers
Urban Eco Ventures is designed to spark the natural curiosity and creativity of youth, develop an experience-based knowledge of ecosystems, and activate engagement in the community. Introductory Session: Registration is now open for independent, nature-loving 6th, 7th and 8th graders in the Oak Park/River Forest area to participate in a pilot Eco Ventures project on Saturday, October 10 from 9:30 AM to noon. The start and end point for our adventures will be at The Depot, 401 Thatcher Ave, River Forest. This program will be an opportunity to unplug and recharge in nature.
